History

R. E. Newcomb Electric, Inc. was established in June 1985 by founder and CEO, Roy E. Newcomb.

During his summer years of high school, Roy worked as an electrical helper for Reed Electric in Georgetown.  After graduating from high school, Roy was accepted into the IBEW Local #26 Apprenticeship Program, completing his studies in 1976. In November 1977, Roy teamed with his brother, Tom, and founded Newcomb Electric, Inc.

In 1985, Roy decided to start his own business, R. E. Newcomb Electric, Inc.

With Jim Libertini serving as vice-president and field superintendent the business grew. The company gained a reputation as a first class electrical contractor in part due to the long term employment of key employees which provided and maintained stability. In fact, R. E. Newcomb Electric has six employees who have been loyal and dedicated for over 20 years and thirteen employees who have been part of the team for over 10 years. Currently, R. E. Newcomb Electric has over 50 full-time employees committed to providing customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional quality workmanship and meeting targeted deadlines. Safety is a top priority.

R. E. Newcomb Electric has provided quality service to contractors and commercial property owners in DC, Virginia, Maryland and surrounding areas; specializing in tenant fit-outs, commercial remodeling, high-end condominiums and commercial construction.

Believing that training and education are an integral part to exceptional workmanship and professionalism, R. E. Newcomb requires all apprentices to attend an accredited four year Apprenticeship Program through the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) – Chesapeake Chapter, a government recognized program. Our team is expected to be skilled, qualified and proficient in the field.
